Then we're told we need to build our platform. If we don't, we won't sell any books.

Fine, we'll just double up and focus on both. But no more!

Don't Do this 

Regardless of where you're at in the writing process, the first thing you shouldn't do is make assumptions about the business aspects of your writing pursuits.

Assume wrongly, and you could miss out on valuable tax deductions. 

Or worse, you could write off an unallowable tax deduction--and the IRS penalizes you, to the tune of thousands of dollars.

If you're (cheap) like me, you don't want to pay a tax accountant ungodly sums of money to get your questions answered.
