Radio interviews can be a surprising way to promote your book.
For example, three weeks ago a small radio station interviewed me about last Saturday's writers conference. To my amazement, a man from Cedar Rapids, Iowa listened to the interview and attended the conference.
But this is even more amazing: at a writers conference in May, I met Penelope Kaye, who recently signed a publishing contract with a competitor.
"After they published my book, they abandoned me," she lamented. "I didn't know what to do so I took matters into my own hands."
And she really did.
Penelope began googling radio stations and found an extensive list on one website. Then she began contacting them.
"The first five or six phone calls were a little awkward, but then I caught on," she explained. "Eventually the Program Directors assumed I was the publicist."
She landed 20 radio interviews with another 20 interviews on her schedule!
How much did this cost her? NOTHING.
Next week I'm going to interview Penelope for July's authors' training. During our time together you're going to learn:
- How to identify the radio stations that pertain to your book
- What to say to Program Directors to land the interview
- Essentials for a successful interview
If you're a fiction author, this still applies to you! Join us and you'll see why.
