Take The Road Less Traveled
The authors who get ahead of the competition are the innovators. An innovative book idea. Innovative message. Innovative promotion.
If you follow the crowd, you'll never be seen apart from the crowd.
You need to do something different. Unique.
What makes the book promotion ideas below unique, are that most authors will discount them.
"It takes too much time..."
"I don't want to learn that skill..."
"It requires that I do something I've never done before..."
Just...stop!
Before you discount any of the ideas below, ask yourself, “Am I rejecting this idea because it requires that I grow or learn something new?”
Every time you learn a new skill that most of your competition doesn’t want to learn, you are setting yourself up for success.
Lack of time, skills, and experience are all obstacles that prevent authors from promoting their books. Move past those obstacles
and your competition is suddenly diminished.
You don’t need to know every facet of book promotion. You just need to know the right people who have the skills you need. I’ve spent multiple, multiple thousands of dollars on coaches since Illumify’s inception in 2015.
If I lack a skill that we need, I work hard to find a person to fill that gap.
All that to say, many of the ideas below are skills that can be learned. Or you can find the people with the skills and pay them to do the work for you.
10 Innovative Book Promotion Ideas
So evaluate the list below from the perspective of possibilities.
Idea #1: Create a book trailer. Produce a short video that captures the essence of your book and engages potential readers. Share it on social media platforms and your website. If you’re artistically-challenged, we can create your book trailer for only $300.
Idea #2: Host a virtual book launch. Organize a live-streamed
event where you can interact with readers, answer their questions, and provide exclusive insights into your book.
Idea #3: Collaborate with influencers. Identify influencers or bloggers in your book's genre and reach out to them for collaborations. They can feature your book on their platforms, review it, or even participate in an interview with you.
Idea #4: Launch a podcast. Start a podcast related to the themes or topics in your book. Invite guest speakers, share excerpts, and discuss relevant subjects to generate interest and attract new readers.
Invite other podcasters as guests in exchange for appearing on their podcast.
If
you launch a podcast, you want to offer a free giveaway. It doesn’t need to be overly-complicated, but you want people to respond. In exchange for receiving your giveaway, they give you their email address. Email addresses are gold! Now you have direct contact information for promoting your book and future books.
Idea #5: Run a social media contest. Create a contest where participants can win a signed copy of your book or other related goodies. Encourage users to share your book's
cover, tag friends, or use a specific hashtag to spread the word.
Idea #6: Organize a book club. Start an online book club centered around your book. Offer exclusive discussions, author Q&A sessions, and bonus content to participants.
Idea #7: Partner with local businesses. Approach local coffee shops, libraries, or bookstores to display your book or hold a book signing event. Collaborating with these establishments can help generate local buzz and reach new readers.
Idea #8: Offer exclusive bonuses. Provide additional content or bonuses to readers who purchase your book within a
specific timeframe. This could be extra chapters, a companion guide, or access to a private online community.
Idea #9: Create shareable quote graphics. Design visually appealing graphics featuring quotes from your book. Encourage readers to share them on social media, spreading the word about your book in an engaging way.
Idea #10: Guest blog on relevant websites. Research popular websites or blogs related to your book's genre and pitch guest post ideas. Write articles that provide value to their audience while subtly promoting your book.
Remember, combining multiple strategies and tailoring them to your target audience will increase your chances of success.
