In last week's Power Writers Report, I gave five reasons why every author needs an audio book.
The reasons are a recent revelation to me. If you haven't read the blog post, you can read it here.
Today,
a friend made me aware of an entirely different segment of the population who can only listen to audiobooks.
Ignore them to your own peril.
Welcome to the Power Writers Report, our weekly update,
packed full of powerful writing tips, productivity tools, platform-building strategies, author best practices, resources, and free stuff.

"My husband has hundreds of books on his bookshelf, and he hasn't read any one of them," the person told me.
"He can't because he has dyslexia--and both of my
kids have dyslexia, too."
Many people with reading disabilities cannot read, not because they aren't smart enough, but because their brain can't process the text in front of them.
Others can't see the text on the page.
Recent studies indicate that as many as 40 million people have dyslexia.
As many as 43.5 million people suffer from ADD or ADHD (Attention Deficit
Disorder or Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder).
Finally, an additional 7.7 million adults report having a visual disability.
For our remedial math friends, the total number above amounts to 91.2
million people who either struggle to read or cannot read.

That's over a quarter of the US population--not to mention readers in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and
Europe, markets in which our books are available.
You need to reach those people with your book because many authors aren't. Audiobooks aren't as prevalent as print books or eBooks, so you have fewer competitors in the market.
Twenty-five years ago, eBooks were barely a thing. Nowadays, any publisher who doesn't offer an eBook is turning their backs on significant sales.

During our Zoom call, I will interview John Behrens, president of Nashville Audio Productions, an audio book company that produces audiobooks for traditional publishers.
Joining us will be McKenzie Fetters, one of NAP's narrators and Illumify's audio book coordinator.
You'll learn the answer to questions like:
- What kind of royalties will I generate?
- Can I voice my own audiobook?
- How much does it cost to produce?
- What's the turnaround time from start to finish?
We'll also make time for questions.

Speaking of eBooks, we offer promotional strategies that will promote your eBook to millions of people.
This shoots you to the top of Amazon's search engine so readers can find you easier.
It also motivates Amazon to include your book as a recommended purchase when readers view similar books (referred to as an "also bought"). Some of our authors have experienced steady monthly sales for a year or more, yielding thousands of dollars in royalties.
That's right. Thousands.
